Set up phones and Outlook
adiMAIL by Adimyra works with any mail app that supports IMAP and SMTP: iPhone and iPad Mail, Gmail and Samsung Email on Android, Outlook, Apple Mail and Thunderbird.
1. Create an app password
Mail apps should sign in with an app password, not your main password. It keeps your main password private, and you can revoke one device without affecting the others.
- In the web inbox, open Settings → App passwords.
- Give it a name like "My iPhone" and choose Create.
- Copy the password. You won't be able to see it again.
2. The settings
Settings → Phone and computer shows the exact server name for your account, and can set up an iPhone or iPad for you in one step.
| Setting | Incoming (IMAP) | Outgoing (SMTP) |
|---|---|---|
| Server | the mail server name shown in Settings | the same server name |
| Port | 993 | 465 (SSL/TLS) or 587 (STARTTLS) |
| Security | SSL/TLS | SSL/TLS on 465, STARTTLS on 587 |
| Username | your full email address | your full email address |
| Password | your app password | your app password |
Outgoing mail always needs the username and password (authentication on).
iPhone and iPad
The quickest way: open Settings → Phone and computer on the phone itself and install the profile. To add the account by hand:
- Open Settings → Apps → Mail → Mail Accounts → Add Account → Other → Add Mail Account.
- Enter your name, email address and app password, then Next.
- Choose IMAP, and fill in the server name for both incoming and outgoing mail.
Android (Gmail app)
- Open Gmail, tap your profile picture, then Add another account → Other.
- Enter your email address, choose Personal (IMAP), then your app password.
- Fill in the incoming and outgoing server settings from the table above.
Outlook
- File → Add Account (new Outlook: Settings → Accounts → Add account).
- Enter your email address. If Outlook doesn't find the settings, choose Advanced options → Let me set up my account manually → IMAP.
- Fill in the server, ports and security from the table, then sign in with your app password.
Thunderbird
Thunderbird finds the settings by itself: enter your name, email address and app password, then choose Done.
Something not working?
- Check that you used the app password, not your main password.
- Make sure the username is your full email address.
- If your network blocks port 465, try 587 with STARTTLS.
